Recently, Acronis Partition Expert became part of another, large packaged, called 'Acronis Disk Director Suite.' Partition Expert comes highly recommended, is extremely easy to use, and is an excellent companion to Acronis True Image (backup software). One such program is called Acronis Partition Expert. There is not any continuous unallocated space behind the C drive. Reasons For Dynamic Disks: No unallocated space is there on dynamic disks. Microsoft says that the extend volume feature in Disk Management only works to a RAW or NTFS partition. Partition selected in this step should contain enough free space, as the software will move free space from this partition to C. The volume or partition you want to enlarge is actually NOT as NTFS partition. The Extend Partition window shows up, and you need to choose a partition which contains large free space and click OK button. But a lot has changed since that time and there are now a number of third-party utilities that allow you to manipulate the size of your hard drive partitions right within the Windows Environment. Right-click on the C drive you want to increase space and choose Extend Partition.

In the past, there was no way to resize the geometry of your hard drive without losing any of the data stored on the drive. What you are referring to is called a Partition Management Software (or otherwise known as a 'partition manager').
